E-mail notifications!

Hey guys! We’re working to maximize your chances of getting every SwagCode.  You’ve seen (and are hopefully using!) the SwagCode Checker, our automatically updated Twitter account (which provides text message notifications), and our RSS feed.  We now offer automatic e-mail notifications when a new Swag Code comes out. To set up e-mail notifications, follow these steps.
  1. Go to the e-mail notifications page.  You should see something that looks like the following.
    Email notifications form
    Email notifications form
  2. Type in your e-mail address and press “Submit”.  You should receive a confirmation e-mail within ten minutes.  If you don’t get it, check your spam folder.  If it still doesn’t work, try again and contact us.
  3. After you confirm your subscription by clicking on the link in the e-mail, you’ll be able to select when you want notification e-mails.  If you just want to be notified when we post a new SwagCode, make sure that’s the only thing selected and press “Submit”.
    Selecting notification categories
    Selecting notification categories
That’s it!  You should now receive notification e-mails when we post new Swag Codes!  If you run into any problems, please let us know.

Auto-Searcher Premium

The auto-searcher has been a big hit! We’re overjoyed to see that you’re all making good use of it. While the current auto-searcher will remain freely available to you, we’re planning on developing a “premium” version that has even more capability!  This would be an affordable paid service.  Ideally, it will pay for itself in SwagBucks prizes in the long run!  Follows is a list of capabilities:
  1. More customizable settings: modify the amount of time between searches, select the dictionaries you’d like to use for searches, notification sounds, etc.
  2. Notifications (sound, e-mail, etc.) when something noteworthy happens (you win SwagBucks, you’re prompted to enter a CAPTCHA, etc).  The times you’re notified will be customizable.
  3. Per-user win reports and history.
  4. Notifications and an option to auto-enter a SwagCode when a new one comes out.
Of course we’re willing to entertain other ideas. Given this, we have a few questions for you:
  1. Would you purchase this service?
  2. Because of existing security precautions that all modern browsers implement, it is impossible for these features to exist without the assistance of a browser plugin.  Would you be willing to install a browser plugin?
  3. If so, would you also be willing to install Google Chrome?
If you have a free minute, please fill out the following survey to help us out. [polldaddy survey=”93DE14FE8BC06E97″ link_text=”Click here to take the survey”]
Thanks guys! — gc
Also: We will have MANY more features to go along with the premium service, not just the premium auto searcher, and auto code enterer. These are just a few of the features we will have available to you.

Code Checker, Auto-Searcher Updates

The Code Checker has seen a few simple updates tonight. Some of you asked for a sound to play when there’s a new code.  The Code Checker can now do that!  Currently, it plays a drumroll.  If that’s not “alarming” enough, please let us know.  It’s easily changeable. The sound is optional.  You can disable it if you like.  In addition, I’ve made the JavaScript alert optional.  By default, both of these things are enabled. In a similar vein, the auto-searcher has been updated with the capability to play a (less alarming) sound whenever it makes a new search.  Again, this is optional, but is enabled by default (we can change this if most people don’t like it).  Hopefully this feature will help you see when you win, and check if you need to enter a CAPTCHA (image text). Hope you find this helpful! — gc

New Site Launch! New Features!

As some of you have probably noticed, the site looks a little different. We’ve moved away from blogspot so that we can offer you some features we all think you’ll enjoy. For those of you that are just joining us, here’s a list of the things the new site is capable of:
  1. SwagCode checker.  If you leave this page open, you will be alerted when a new SwagCode is posted.  It checks for new codes every few seconds.
  2. Automatic Twitter updates.  Follow us on twitter!  We automatically update our twitter account when we post a new code.  You can subscribe to text message notifications on twitter, so if you want, you can get a text message every time we post a new code!
  3. Automatic code generation.  When a code is posted that is different for everyone, we automatically get a unique code just for you!  This will be displayed in the “Active Codes” section above the chatbox.  Note that this may take a few minutes to update after the code is posted.
  4. Auto Searcher.  This tool will automatically submit a random search to SwagBucks.  The time varies between 5 and 30 minutes.  Please notice that we cannot take responsibility if this results in the deactivation of your account.  As long as you use it conservatively (don’t leave it open for more than a few hours a day), it won’t happen.
  5. Arcade.  Full of fun flash games to play!  Compete with other members, earn points, and have a great time!
  6. Pop-Out chatbox.  Pop the chatbox into its own window so you don’t have to say goodbye as you poke around the site.
We hope you all enjoy the new site and the new features!  Please use the “Contact Us” page to let us know of any concerns you’ve encountered. Also, please be sure to read the rules for the ChatBox! Until next time, — gc

Twitter

My last features post mentioned the next feature I had in sight was e-mail notifications for new SwagCodes. This has been, at least temporarily, replaced by a less cumbersome solution: twitter.

Follow us at http://twitter.com/SwagCodeSpoiler

When there’s a new code, it will be posted to our twitter account within minutes. If your twitter account has SMS enabled, you can text follow swagcodespoiler to twitter, and you’ll start receiving text messages when we post new SwagCodes.

Additionally, for those of you who are are interested in an RSS feed containing just the Swag Codes (without any other posts), you can subscribe here:

http://host.sc-s.com/category/swag-codes/feed/

As always, please let us know if you run into any problems or have any feedback you think might be helpful!

Features

There are currently two features available to those of you with access to http://host.sc-s.com that aren’t available at the current version of SwagCode Spoiler.  Because the documentation is scarse to non-existent elsewhere, I’m making a brief post to explain them.  Hopefully this will help you maximize what SC-S can do for you. 1. SwagCode Checker Firstly, we have a SwagCode “Checker”.  This is a very straightforward tool.  Open the page, and leave it open.  Every fifteen seconds or so, it will go behind the scenes and do the following:
  1. Checks the Swidgit for anything out of the ordinary (i.e., saying something other than “There is no SwagCode available.”)
  2. Check if any active codes are available through sc-s.com’s posts.
If either of these things turn out to be the case, you will be notified via a Javascript alert.  When this happens, it will look as follows:
SwagCode Alert
This is what the SwagCode Checker will look like when there's an active SwagCode.
Most Browsers will automatically focus the Checker page when a Javascript alert appears, so as long as you’re at your computer, you’ll know within seconds of a code being out. 2. Dynamic display of active SwagCodes This feature appears in an area directly above the chat box.  It will usually say something to the effect of “There is no active swagcode”. If there is an active swagcode, however, it will be there — whether or not it is a code that you can copy/paste or if it is a code you usually have to go to a page to copy/paste.  This feature will automatically give you your own unique version of a Swag Code if necessary. For example, if the code is SwaGgErXXXX, it will give you a code that looks something like SwaGgEr1Jr4 that you can simply copy/paste into the “gimme box” without worrying about getting it from a page.
This is an example of a "Dynamic" swag code being displayed
I hope this has been useful.  Next up to bat is a notifier that will e-mail/text you when there is an active swag code.  This should be done within the next few weeks. As we work on making the site more robust, enjoyable, and aesthetic, we ask that you please bring any issues or suggestions you might have to our attention.  Please use the “Contact Us” page.
